Bayer Leverkusen star Moussa Diaby being considered by Manchester United to bolster forward line
Manchester United are considering making a move for Bayer Leverkusen forward Moussa Diaby as the club look to add reinforcements to the attack, according to reports in Spain via Manchester Evening News.
Cristiano Ronaldo departed the club recently. And the 37-year-old’s absence leaves a hole to be filled in the squad. And the France international seems to have caught Erik ten Hag’s eyes.
The 23-year-old was left out of Didier Deschamps’ World Cup squad. However, considering the strength in depth Les Bleus have, it is not a knock on the winger’s abilities.
Diaby joined the Bundesliga outfit in the summer of 2019 from Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain. In his time in Germany, the forward has been a regular for Die Werkself.
The France international was in fine form in the previous campaign. In 42 appearances for Leverkusen in all competitions, the youngster scored 17 goals and provided 14 assists.
And he has continued to make a mark under the command of Xabi Alonso. The 23-year-old has featured in 22 games this season, finding the back of the net eight times and setting up four goals.
United signed Antony in the recent transfer window from Ajax. The Brazilian was the only addition to the forward line in the summer of 2022.
However, the Red Devils have evidently lacked a centre-forward in the current campaign. Anthony Martial’s injuries have kept him on the sidelines for most of the season. As a result, Marcus Rashford has had to be deployed as the striker.

Those who have seen Diaby play know that he is a pacy winger who can leave defenders in the dust with ease with his speed. However, we have several wide attackers in the squad. Thus, United should focus on bringing a number nine capable of consistently finding the back of the net rather than overloading the flanks.
