Danny Mills calls Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo ‘disgrace’ for leaving before full-time against Tottenham Hotspur
Premier League ace Danny Mills has called what Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo did against Tottenham Hotspur a “disgrace”. The Portuguese went down the tunnel before the full-time whistle.
The Red Devils dominated Spurs on 19 October in the English top flight and won 2-0. However, the win was evidently a bit overshadowed by the five-time Ballon d’Or winner making his way into the dressing room before the game ended.
Speaking after United’s win over Tottenham on Sky Sports (h/t Mirror), Mills, who used to play for Manchester City, feels what Ronaldo did was disrespectful. The ex-defender is of the opinion the Portuguese feels he is bigger than the club.
“It’s an absolute disgrace, I think it’s incredibly disrespectful to the team, to the manager, to the fans. They were winning 2-0, what complaint can he have? If they were losing 2-0 it still wouldn’t be right, but I would sort of understand it. He clearly thinks he’s bigger than the football club.”
United were all over Tottenham throughout the fixture. We had the majority of the ball and pinned down Antonio Conte’s team. The Red Devils had sustained periods of pressure and did not allow Spurs to play.
The first half saw us create a lot of chances. We were all over the North London side. Unfortunately, we were unable to take the lead.
Thankfully, immediately after the break, the Red Devils took the lead. Fred’s deflected shot managed to find the back of the net a couple of minutes after the start of the second half.
Tottenham had a few half-chances to find an equaliser. However, they were unable to beat David de Gea. And in the 69th minute, Bruno Fernandes scored the second goal of the game for the Old Trafford side.
Marcus Rashford was the preferred choice ahead of Ronaldo in the starting lineup. And while the England international was not clinical enough, he did look threatening.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner had to see the game from the bench. Erik ten Hag made three changes, but the Portuguese was not one of them. And just before stoppage time, the 37-year-old was seen walking down the tunnel.

Fans were not pleased by what Ronaldo did. During pre-season against Rayo Vallecano, the Portuguese left before the end of the game as well. It remains to be seen how the after handles it this time around.
