Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix set to hold talks with agents amidst Manchester United interest
Manchester United are keeping tabs on the situation of Joao Felix at Atletico Madrid, according to A Bola (h/t Express). The 22-year-old is unhappy with Los Rojiblancos.
Marca claim Felix has lost faith in Atletico manager Diego Simeone after he was left on the bench against Club Brugge. It was a crunch tie for the Spanish giants. However, the match ended in a draw. And the La Liga club are now on the brink of exiting their group.
The Portugal international is unsettled at Atletico and met with agent Jorge Mendes to discuss his future. The 22-year-old wants to leave the Madrid-based club. However, he is tied down with Los Colchoneros until 2026.
Alongside the Red Devils, Premier League sides Liverpool and Manchester City are also ‘attentive to the situation‘. European giants Barcelona and Bayern Munich also have an eye on the young forward.
Felix enjoyed a good start to the 2022/23 campaign. However, since then, the 22-year-old has seen himself fall down the pecking order. Simeone has preferred Antoine Griezmann over the Portuguese in recent weeks.
Since making his way to the Spanish capital in 2019, Felix has failed to establish himself as a regular in the team. The forward has failed to deliver for Atletico consistently over the years.
The Old Trafford side bolstered their frontline with the arrival of Antony from Ajax. The Brazilian has reunited with Erik ten Hag in Manchester. And the 22-year-old has started his career in a red shirt on the front foot.
But United seemingly need to reinforce their frontline in the coming future. Cristiano Ronaldo is 37 and it would be wise for the Red Devils to find a long-term replacement for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
