Manchester United keeping tabs on Leicester City star James Maddison
Manchester United are eyeing Leicester City midfielder James Maddison and the Red Devils are ‘interested in signing’ him, according to Fichajes via CaughtOffside (h/t Manchester Evening News).
Man United are lining up a move for the 25-year-old attacking midfielder. However, several sides are keen on the England international. The Old Trafford side will face competition from the likes of Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Leicester are currently going through a rough patch, sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table. The Foxes have won just one game in the 2022/23 campaign in the English top flight.
However, Maddison has still performed well this season. The 25-year-old has been one of the only bright sparks for Brendan Rodgers in the current campaign.
Maddison has featured in nine games for Leicester in all competitions this season. And the England international has contributed with five goals and two assists.
United signed Christian Eriksen and Casemiro in the recent transfer window to bolster the middle of the park. The Red Devils have other decent options, such as Scott McTominay, Fred and Donny van de Beek in the squad.
Bruno Fernandes has been a guaranteed starter for United since his signing. The 28-year-old has been pivotal once again for the Red Devils this season.
Maddison would evidently find it hard to compete with Fernandes. However, while has mostly played in the number 10 position, the 25-year-old can also play out wide or the number eight role.

United fans would not mind someone like Maddison being signed by the club. The England international is a quality player and still has a lot of potential to improve. However, it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils pursue the 25-year-old’s signature in the coming transfer windows.
