Manchester United News: Cristiano Ronaldo goes against Erik ten Hag and accepts the FA decision
Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has gone against his manager Erik ten Hag and accepted the decision of the Football Association to charge him for violent or improper conduct after slapping a phone out of an Everton fan’s hand last season, according to the Independent.
When Erik ten Hag was quizzed about the incident in the press conference last night, the Dutchman went on to claim that the 37-year-old will not admit it but it seems like there has been a miscommunication on the exact incident.
The Dutch tactician’s remarks initially seemed to suggest that Ronaldo would contest the FA charge but it is now being claimed that the former Juventus star will accept the charge but defend himself against a lengthy ban.
Ronaldo has now been given time until Monday to respond to the charge and is now set to face a hearing with the FA. He will have to come up with an explanation for his actions by then and also try to not cop a huge ban.
If indeed found guilty and given a lengthy ban, it will come as a huge blow for the Portuguese superstar who just now seems to be finding his feet in an Erik ten Hag team and is slowly gaining prominence.
Ronaldo has largely been reduced to a role off the bench for much of the current campaign. Ten Hag has chosen to prefer Anthony Martial to Ronaldo when fit, and has been lined up without a natural striker and put the 37-year-old on the bench.
Whilst the Dutch tactician voraciously supports Ronaldo in the press conferences, it remains to be seen if he fully trusts the 37-year-old and if he starts playing him more in the upcoming games for the Red Devils.
Ronaldo broke his Premier League goalscoring rut against Everton last weekend when he emerged as an early substitute for Martial and he will be hoping that this was the start to a new lease of life under ten Hag.
