Diogo Dalot considering leaving Manchester United with Juventus interested in transfer

Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot is considering leaving Manchester United, with Juventus interested in the 23-year-old, according to CalcioMercato (h/t Express).

The Old Lady are set to allow their two full-backs, Juan Cuadrado and Alex Sandro, to leave at the end of next season. And Dalot is on the Serie A outfit’s radar. However, the Portugal international is also being eyed by Barcelona.

Dalot, along with his agent, is looking at potential options in the market. The Portugal international’s current contract with the Red Devils expires at the end of the season. Although, the Old Trafford side do have the option to extend the 23-year-old’s existing deal by an additional year.

The right-back spot is currently evidently a weak link when it comes to squad depth. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has fallen out of favour in the 2022/23 campaign. The 24-year-old has played just four minutes this season under the new gaffer.

Wan-Bissaka made his way to United in the summer of 2019 from Crystal Palace for a hefty fee. However, the England U21 international’s career in Manchester seems to be on its final legs.

The 24-year-old was given permission to leave in the recent transfer window. However, a move did not end up materialising for the right-back in the summer of 2022.

Wan-Bisska’s change in fortunes started with the appointment of interim boss Ralf Rangnick. The German preferred Dalot in the starting lineup. And since then, the 23-year-old has staked his claim in the team.

In the 2022/23 campaign, Dalot kept his place in the side and has become a key member for Ten Hag. The Portuguese has started every game for the Red Devils in all competitions under the Dutch manager.

However, if United end up losing Dalot, it will evidently be a big blow. We have no other decent alternatives for the right-back spot in the squad. Thus, it would be wise for the Old Trafford side to keep hold of their valuable asset.
