Barcelona ‘desperate’ to sign in-form Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot

Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot is a ‘transfer priority’ for La Liga giants Barcelona, according to SPORT (h/t Manchester Evening News). The Blaugrana are ‘desperate’ to get their hands on the 23-year-old’s signature.

Dalot’s existing deal with the Red Devils is in its final year. As a result, the Portuguese will be free to leave the Old Trafford side next summer. However, United do have the option to extend the 23-year-old’s contract by an additional year.

However, Barcelona will continue to keep an eye on Dalot. The right-back has been in fine form this season for the Red Devils and has surprised fans with his performances.

Dalot signed for United in the summer of 2018 from FC Porto. However, the Portuguese was a bit-part player for a couple of seasons before leaving on loan to AC Milan.

Upon his return, Dalot was still behind Aaron Wan-Bissaka during the 2021/22 season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, the Norwegian’s departure led to the Portugal international getting more game time.

Interim boss Ralf Rangnick preferred Dalot over the former Crystal Palace star. And that trend has continued under Erik ten Hag. The Portuguese has started every game in the current campaign.

On the other hand, Wan-Bissaka has played just four minutes of competitive football. This has made the 23-year-old right-back seemingly even more vital for us currently.

Dalot has been crucial in both ends of the pitch this season. His delivery in the final third has been decent. Defensively as well, the Portuguese has managed to remain solid.
