Manchester United rejected a swap deal involving Cristiano Ronaldo and Victor Osimhen
According to Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports, Manchester United rejected a proposal from Napoli that would have seen a sensational swap deal happen between the two clubs with Cristiano Ronaldo going to Naples whilst Victor Osimhen would have been at Old Trafford.
However, the demands of the Italian club to make this deal happen did not suit the Red Devils. Napoli apparently wanted £100m for Victor Osimhen and expected the English club to cover the whole of Ronaldo’s wages during his time in Italy.
It is easy to understand why Man United walked out on this deal. The whole proposal seems ridiculous and would have been a very bad deal for the Red Devils despite the fact that they would have gotten a player of Osimhen’s quality.

Ten Hag was apparently very quick to rebuff this deal. The Dutch tactician would undoubtedly have loved to bring in a striker for the future and Osimhen could have been an option in a stand-alone deal but not this way.
Ronaldo was linked with an exit from Old Trafford throughout the summer. The 37-year-old wanted to leave the Red Devils just one season after joining them and this could have been due to the fact that the English club failed to qualify for the Champions League this season.
Even though the Portuguese forward stayed at the club this season, he has been off the boil this season. Ronaldo has really struggled to get going and Erik ten Hag has shown a tendency to prefer other players to the target man.

The Red Devils striker is also 37 years old. He might not have much time left in the top-flight as he looks to pull the curtains down on what has been a tremendous career. Man United will have to look for a striker in the near future.
It is not easy to get strikers who have the quality to replace Ronaldo. They will definitely not come cheap and the Red Devils will need to be very smart in the way they go about signing a new target man next summer.
