Ben Foster encourages Borussia Dortmund midfielder, Jude Bellingham, to join Manchester United
Former Manchester United star Ben Foster has encouraged Borussia Dortmund midfielder, Jude Bellingham, to join the Red Devils. The ex-shot-stopper feels the 19-year-old would flourish at the Old Trafford side.
Bellingham joined Dortmund in 2020 and has since become a player top clubs have shown an interest in. It is anticipated that next summer, many European giants will be vying for the England international’s signature.
While United and Manchester City have been linked, Foster, who spent five years on the books of the Old Trafford side, has urged Bellingham to consider the Red Devils. Speaking on his YouTube channel (h/t Manchester Evening News), the former goalkeeper would like to see the 19-year-old under Erik ten Hag.
“For me personally, I would love to see him go to Manchester United.
“I think he would thrive more at Manchester United, he’d have more responsibility and I think he would enjoy it there more. I think he would know he’s the main man.
“I worry that if he went to a club like Man City he might just sort of [end up] a little like Jack Grealish.”
Bellingham is not just an established player for BVB; the 19-year-old has also made a place for himself in the national setup. The Dortmund midfielder was called up to the England squad to take on Italy and Germany by Gareth Southgate.
The ex-Birmingham City youngster started in both the UEFA Nations League fixtures for the Three Lions and put in impressive displays. While England could not win either game, the Dortmund midfielder made a mark.
United’s middle of the park saw a number of departures in the summer of 2022. Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic were just some of the senior squad members who left for free.
To reinforce the engine room, the Red Devils got Christian Eriksen and Casemiro in the recent transfer window. The Danish national has especially made an immediate impact in the team.
