Manchester United one of several clubs to be part of ‘crazy race’ for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham in 2023
Borussia Dortmund superstar Jude Bellingham is being eyed by several clubs. And Manchester United are one of the clubs that will be in the race for the 19-year-old in 2023.
Bellingham joined the Bundesliga outfit in the summer of 2020 from Birmingham City. The England international has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world over the last two seasons.
Speaking on his official YouTube channel, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claimed that many top sides around Europe would be vying for Bellingham’s signature next summer. And United have had an eye on the 19-year-old for some time now.
“Next summer for Bellingham, there is going to be a crazy, crazy race.
“In England, all the top clubs, not just Liverpool, are following Bellingham. For example, Man City for sure, but also, Man United have been following Bellingham for a long time.
“So, many clubs will be in the race.”
Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester City are some of the other sides interested in Bellingham. Dortmund would like to keep the England international next summer. The Germans are confident that he is happy at the club. However, it will be a difficult task.
United lost a bunch of midfielders this summer. Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic were the players the Red Devils lost that played a significant role in the side last season.
The Frenchman’s departure was considerable. Pogba is a quality player when in top form and brings flair to the middle of the park. The 29-year-old’s departure left us without a decent number eight in the squad.
However, United bought several fresh faces this summer to replenish the squad. And Christian Eriksen, who signed as a free agent, has proven to be an astute buy. The Danish national has seamlessly fit in Erik ten Hag’s starting XI, playing as a box-to-box midfielder.
The Red Devils also got Casemiro from Real Madrid. The Brazilian won five Champions League titles with Los Blancos and several other trophies.
