The position of Chelsea on a move for Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo in January is not known

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo was a target for Chelsea this summer. However, whether the Blues will go after the Portuguese once again in the January transfer window is apparently not known as of now.

In an exclusive by Fabrizio Romano on CaughtOffside, the transfer guru claims that Chelsea are focused on other things at the moment. Getting a new director is on the cards for the Blues. And there have been no conversations around Ronaldo.

United were seemingly in danger of losing one of their superstars this summer, with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner linked with the Blues. However, in the end, the 37-year-old remained in Manchester although it remains to be seen if he is still here after the winter transfer window in 2023.

Ronaldo ended the previous campaign as United’s top goalscorer. The Portugal international scored 24 goals in all competitions for the Red Devils. No other forward in the squad came close to that tally.

Subsequently, with most of the team underperforming, we finished sixth in the Premier League and missed out on Champions League football for the 2022/23 season.

Ronaldo missed most of the pre-season under Erik ten Hag. The 27-year-old featured in just one friendly against Rayo Vallecano and appeared to be off the pace.

The Portugal international was on the bench for the first game of the campaign against Brighton & Hove Albion. Ronaldo came on as a substitute as the side were losing. However, the 37-year-old could not affect the end result.

United visited the Gtech Community Stadium to face Brentford in the second fixture. Ronaldo started the game. However, it was a bad performance from the team as we lost 4-0.

Since then, Ronaldo has started just one game against Real Sociedad in the Europa League. The Portuguese icon has had to settle for a place on the bench. It remains to be seen whether the 37-year-old decides to leave in January and if Chelsea are still interested in his signature.
