Brighton & Hove Albion set to offer midfielder Moises Caicedo new contract amidst interest from Manchester United
Manchester United target Moises Caicedo is set to be offered a new contract by Brighton & Hove Albion, according to The Mirror. The 20-year-old has caught the eyes of several Premier League clubs with his performances.
The Red Devils have been interested in bringing the Ecuadorian to Old Trafford. Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea also admire Caicedo. The 20-year-old’s former manager Graham Potter is now the head coach of the Blues.
While Caicedo still has three years left on his current deal, the Seagulls are prepared to reward him for his displays on the pitch. The terms in the midfielder’s current contract are below that of other first-team regulars at the Amex Stadium.
Caicedo has impressed many
Caicedo joined Brighton in the winter window of the 2020/21 campaign. The Ecuadorian then spent half a season on loan at Belgian club Beerschot in the previous campaign before returning to Sussex.
The 20-year-old immediately made an impact for the Seagulls. The midfielder scored the opening goal as Brighton beat us 4-0 in May last season.
Brighton were the first team Erik ten Hag faced in a competitive game. The Seagulls visited Old Trafford to commence the 2022/23 campaign. However, the Sussex-based club once again got the better of us. And Caicedo put in a decent shift.
United seemingly needed to bolster their numbers in the middle of the park after several departures. The likes of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic evidently left glaring holes in the engine room.
However, the arrival of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro has somewhat filled the gaps. The Denmark international has been one of the best players in a red shirt, playing in the number eight position.
