Jorge Mendes still looking for a way out for Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United before transfer deadline
Cristiano Ronaldo is still keen on leaving Manchester United this summer, with Jorge Mendes looking for a transfer before the deadline, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The Portuguese wants to leave Manchester, with joining a new club this summer being a priority for the 37-year-old. Ronaldo’s agent is exploring options for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
United are adamant about keeping the Portugal national team captain. Ronaldo’s homecoming was met with a lot of fanfare last summer. And it was in the final few weeks of the transfer window a year ago that the 37-year-old left Juventus.
The Manchester-based club have a difficult situation on their hands at the moment. Ronaldo ended last season as our highest goalscorer. The Portuguese was the only attacking option that lived up to fans’ expectations.
The other options at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick’s disposal were disappointing. The likes of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial didn’t have the impact people were hoping for in the previous campaign.
After not being given a lot of opportunities in the first half of last season, Martial decided to leave the club on loan and joined Sevilla. Rashford and Sancho were unable to offer a lot going forward.

Even Bruno Fernandes, who had double figures for goals and assists last season, has looked frustrated on the pitch on occasions. The former Sporting CP star has had decent numbers over the last 18 months, but fans feel the 27-year-old hasn’t shown his best form.
Ronaldo missed most of the pre-season training sessions under Erik ten Hag. The 37-year-old has been angling for a move for some time now. However, he has returned for the opening of the new Premier League season.
