Atletico Madrid rejected a €135 million bid for Portuguese forward Joao Felix from Manchester United
Manchester United offered Atletico Madrid €135 million for Portuguese forward Joao Felix. However, the Red Devils still fell short. They failed to bring the 22-year-old to Old Trafford this transfer window, according to Sunday Times journalist Duncan Castles via UtdDistrict via Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News).
Felix joined Atletico in the summer of 2019. The Portugal international was considered a youngster with a high ceiling after impressing at SL Benfica. However, the 22-year-old still has some ways to go to fulfil that potential.
For the Spanish giants, Felix has featured 112 times, scoring 29 goals and providing 18 assists. The 22-year-old has played in a number of positions in the forward line, but mostly as a second striker.
The start of the new campaign has been blistering for the Portuguese. Felix provided three assists for the Rojiblancos in the first game of the 2022/23 La Liga campaign against Getafe.
Felix is also a regular in the Portugal national team squad. The 22-year-old has gained 22 caps for Fernando Santos’ side. He has often played alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
United have seemingly been in the market for a forward to bolster the attack. The Red Devils have struggled for goals in the opening two games of the new season. We only have Alexis Mac Allister’s own goal to our name.
The Manchester-based club have continued to struggle in front of goal, just like in the previous campaign. Only Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes scored a considerable number of goals for the team. The rest of our players were disappointing in terms of goalscoring numbers.
United fans had high hopes from the likes of Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho last season. However, the English duo failed to make a big enough impact when they played.

Thus, the Red Devils are evidently in need of reinforcements up front. Unfortunately, it appears that getting Felix this summer is challenging. United should instead focus on other targets who are attainable.
