Bruno Fernandes opens up on a ‘sad’ Manchester United locker room

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has spoken about the ‘sad’ United locker room after their defeats against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford. The 27-year-old has admitted that morale has been low after the two games.

Speaking to Portuguese outlet Record (h/t Manchester Evening News), the Portugal international also said that there was a ‘lack of trust’ between the players on the pitch. He also revealed that confidence has taken a hit since the back-to-back defeats.

It’s been a difficult start, nobody is prepared to start like that at this club. It’s because of the lack of trust between us. It’s a sad locker room, a bit dejected by the results. The locker room knows it’s not at the level it needs to be.

However, the midfielder added that he feels this will not be a long-term issue and expects his team to bounce back. United have got off to the worst start possible, losing both their games and sitting at the bottom of the table.

It is no surprise that the locker is not happy. Anyone that watches this United team play will know that there is no communication among the members. Some look lost, while some simply are not good enough to start games for the club.

Erik ten Hag has failed to implement his demands and the game plan is yet to make a difference at Old Trafford. The Brighton players were very easily opening up the defence, while against Brentford defensive errors just gifted them the goals. The squad too does not look happy while playing.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future is still uncertain, while the duo of Scott McTominay and Fred are still starting games for the club. Lisandro Martinez could not keep up with the physicality of the Brentford players, while Marcus Rashford seems to lack confidence in front of the goal.

Other new signings in Christian Eriksen and Tyrell Malacia are yet to show their capabilities. However, United have confirmed an agreement for Casemiro in principle. A defensive midfielder has been needed at the club since time immemorial, and they have gone and bought in one of the best in the business.

Ten Hag and the fans will hope that their players can up their morale. The season still has a long way to go, and now could be the perfect time to start their way back up. United will host Liverpool for their next game this Monday.
