Ajax to receive a ‘massive offer’ from Manchester United for Antony in the coming days
According to Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth on Twitter (h/t Express), Manchester United have reignited their interest in Ajax forward Antony.
The Brazilian has been one of the names at the top of Erik ten Hag’s wish list this summer. The 22-year-old was an essential member of Ten Hag’s team in the Eredivisie for two seasons.
Ajax’s price tag was a stumbling block for United before. However, it seems the Red Devils are reconsidering their stance on a transfer for Antony, with a “massive offer” being prepared for the Dutch side.
Ajax have already lost some important players this summer. United were one of the clubs that lured a star from the Eredivisie champions. The Red Devils prised Lisandro Martinez from the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
United are seemingly craving for more reinforcements in the attack. The squad lack strength in depth up front. Of the three signings the Manchester-based club have made this summer, none of them have been forwards.
The first game of the season saw Christian Eriksen starting in the number nine position. Anthony Martial has been on the sidelines since the start of the new campaign. Cristiano Ronaldo’s future is up in the air.
Marcus Rashford and
Jadon Sancho have also started both of our previous fixtures. However, just like last season, the English duo have had a hard time making an impact.Ten Hag doesn’t have a lot of options on the bench, either. Anthony Elanga has come on as a substitute. The Dutch manager can also call on Alejandro Garnacho if required. But both the youngsters are still inexperienced.
