Transfer News: Manchester could send out Charlie Savage and Zidane Iqbal on loan this summer

Manchester United could send academy duo of Charlie Savage and Zidane Iqbal out on loan this summer. This is according to Manchester Evening News, who claim that they will be loaned out if an appropriate offer came in for either of them.

Erik ten Hag had included the duo in his pre-season party. The duo also got minutes, but there is no guarantee of playing time for them this season. And now both could be loaned out to improve their development.

United have got off to the worst possible start under Ten Hag. They have lost both their matches this season, and sit at the bottom of the table. New players are needed, but not necessarily from outside.

Savage was decent last season. The 19-year-old defensive midfielder made 21 Premier League 2 appearances and scored two goals and assisted one in the process. The Wales Under-19 international has huge potential in him and sending him out on loan would benefit his development.

Iqbal, a central midfielder, also enjoyed a pretty impressive last season before this one. The 19-year-old made 18 appearances for his Premier League 2 side and scored two goals. He is viewed ahead of Savage in the pecking order, meaning Savage is more likely to head out on loan than him.

The current midfield duo of Scott Mctominay and Fred are simply not good enough to start for United. This they have proved from their disastrous performances in the midfield. Rather than looking for midfielders outside, who are reluctant to come, Ten Hag could look into his own backyard.

There is no doubt Savage and Iqbal need more experience. But with the right guidance under Ten Hag, they could get that here at United, rather than elsewhere. They would also likely be an update to the current midfield at least.

The duo have interest from League One and Championship sides. Wherever they end up, they would require regular playing time. It remains to be seen where they end up playing this season.
