Transfer News: Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag wants to sign Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech
According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag wants to sign talented Moroccan star Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea this summer with the player willing to leave Stamford Bridge.
Hakim Ziyech has been heavily linked with a move away from Chelsea this summer. It seemed for a long time that the Chelsea winger could be on his way to AC Milan but the move seems to have fallen through.
Ziyech has played under Erik ten Hag during their time at Amsterdam. He was part of the squad that had the impressive Champions League run in 2018 when they beat Real Madrid and Juventus on their way to a semi-final heartbreak.
The Moroccan superstar was highly rated as one of the most talented players in that team along with Frenkie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt and Donny van de Beek. He eventually made the move to Chelsea in 2020.
Ziyech’s time at Stamford Bridge has been rather mixed. He often tends to get injured and hence does not have the chance to get a consistent run in the starting 11. He has on occasion shown flashes of the player he can be but it has not been consistent.
The 29-year-old forward played 44 times for Thomas Tuchel’s team last season but most of his appearances came off the bench. During this time, he managed to score eight goals and provide six assists across all competitions.
Manchester United have a relatively stacked front line, especially in the wide positions where we have enough options but Hakim Ziyech will offer Erik ten Hag a different kind of presence on the wing to the options that we can have.
Ziyech will also be able to play in multiple positions as a winger, false 9 and attacking midfielder. Erik ten Hag has used the Moroccan before and managed to make him a quality player before and it could be time for a reunion.

Ziyech will be a good addition to Manchester United. He might not be the biggest priority for the Red Devils but he will be a good acquisition.
