Mustafa El Haddaoui urges Morocco star Hakim Ziyech to join Manchester United from Chelsea

Former Morocco international Mustafa El Haddaoui has urged Chelsea playmaker Hakim Ziyech to leave the Stamford Bridge side and join Manchester United.

The 29-year-old signed for the Blues in the summer of 2020 from Ajax. However, since then, the attacking midfielder has failed to cement his place in the West London side’s starting lineup.

Speaking to Stats Perform and Corriere dello Sport (h/t Metro), El Haddaoui, who garnered 46 caps for Morocco during his playing career, feels Ziyech needs to find pastures new to revive his career.

“Now we’re seeing Hakim’s potential, we can see what he’s capable of. He has a lot of offer.

“He needs to leave Chelsea and go to Manchester United, because the former Ajax manager [Erik ten Hag] wanted him. He will bounce back, but he needs to leave Chelsea during the winter transfer market.”

The 29-year-old has been impressive for the Atlas Lions at the 2022 World Cup. Morocco have made it to the quarter-finals of the prestigious tournament in Qatar after beating Spain on penalties in the round of 16.

The playmaker was influential for the African nation in the group stages against the likes of Belgium and Canada. In the win over La Furia Roja, the former Ajax star put in a brilliant shift.

However, in Zyech’s time at Chelsea, he has been unable to showcase similar form. The 29-year-old has been unable to convince various managers, including Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel and now Graham Potter, at the Stamford Bridge side.

The Moroccan has once again found himself on the bench this season. In the 2022/23 campaign, he has made just nine appearances in all competitions. The playmaker has started just one game in the Premier League.

As a result, Ziyech is being linked with a move away from Chelsea. At the moment, AC Milan are being heavily linked with his signature.

However, United also evidently need to add reinforcement up front with the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. The 29-year-old is definitely someone the club should look at in the upcoming transfer window. He thrived under Erik ten Hag at Ajax.
