Christian Eriksen has adopted a wait-and-watch approach regarding his Manchester United decision
According to The Mirror, Christian Eriksen is currently waiting to see how Manchester United would carry out their transfer business for this summer before deciding on his future. He wants to assess how their plans would unfold before agreeing to move to Old Trafford.
Eriksen is a free agent at this moment, having seen his short-term deal with Brentford expire in this transfer window. Man United have made a two-year proposal to the attacking midfielder, which will see him earn around £150,000-per-week if the contract is accepted. However, he has no intentions of giving a quick answer and is looking to see how their summer turns out moving forward.
It is stated that the Dane is eager to team up with Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, who is claimed to be close to making a switch to Manchester. Tyrell Malacia has been confirmed to become a Red Devils player, which would probably give Erik ten Hag more hopes in striking a deal with Eriksen.
Eriksen to be convinced soon?
Malacia’s ‘imminent’ signing would give us a massive boost indeed when it comes to convincing Eriksen of a move. Since the latter is keen to join forces with de Jong, it would be best if the Manchester board would finalise that transfer as that could prove to be a real statement indeed.
Furthermore, Lisandro Martinez of Ajax is also being pursued right now as plans are underway to table a bid for him in the coming days. Signing him would also give more assurance when it comes to attracting Eriksen, with the Bees also being in the fray right now.
Eriksen offers an opportunity that we simply cannot pass upon, especially in our delicate situation. After all, adding the 30-year-old to our ranks would not dent our transfer budget while also uplifting our declined midfield which was made worse by the departures we had recently.

Eriksen is among the top options in ten Hag’s transfer shortlist, so the management must do their best to back the man in charge by giving him the necessary tools. Following Paul Pogba and Juan Mata’s exits, we would have seen a drop in quality when it comes to the creativity from our midfield.
While de Jong can help negate that issue to an extent, his primary focus would probably be to be a presence in the holding midfield role. Eriksen would be a valuable asset in that regard as our other options like Fred or Scott McTominay are not known for being technically excellent. Whether we can get ten Hag, all his summer targets or not would need to be seen in due time.
