Transfer News: Fulham register interest in Manchester United star Eric Bailly

According to Sky Sports, Fulham have registered their interest in signing Manchester United star Eric Bailly in this summer transfer window.

Bailly still has two years left in his current contract with Man United, but they are willing to move him out this summer. The Cottagers have now enquired about his availability as they look to add him to their ranks and bolster their squad after achieving promotion to the Premier League.

However, Marco Silva’s side are looking to sign the Ivory Coast international on an initial one-year loan deal with an option to make it permanent in the future. That being said, the Red Devils want to sell him permanently or would at least want to strike a loan deal which includes an obligatory clause.

Can Man Utd sell Bailly?

This piece of information would be music to the supporters’ ears as the Manchester side have been given a chance to move out one of their fringe players. The 28-year-old failed to garner even 500 minutes of action in the previous season, which means that it would be best to sell him this summer.

However, we may be forced to concede our ground to the newly-promoted side if there is a desperation to offload the African ace in this transfer window. It is understandable why Fulham do not want to sign him permanently right now, as the risk is too much for them to take.

After all, the Premier League ace has not been at his best for quite some time, plus he has been plagued by constant injuries in recent years. In such a case, a permanent transfer could be a difficult sell on our part, so the loan move, including an option to buy, should perhaps be assessed by the Mancunians.

We are also pursuing Ajax’s Lisandro Martinez at this moment which gives us all the more reason to part ways with Bailly as soon as possible. Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Raphael Varane could provide a decent depth of options to choose from for the time being.

If we want to keep one of the out of favour stars to maintain the squad depth, it would be best to keep hold of Phil Jones as he was solid for us since returning to action under Ralf Rangnick. As such, Bailly has no spots left in our team, so it remains to be seen if he will move to Craven Cottage or not this summer.
