Newcastle United remain interested in Manchester United target Christian Eriksen race

According to Newcastle World, Newcastle are still in the race to sign Christian Eriksen amidst interest from Manchester United for a potential transfer. His future is up for grabs at this moment, which has attracted a host of attention from several clubs ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Eriksen is currently available on a free transfer after his six-months short-term contract with Brentford had expired recently. He is still considering his future options at this moment, with Thomas Frank’s side and Man United being some of the interested parties in this pursuit.

Now, it is stated that Newcastle have maintained their interest in the Danish international, and there continues to be an open line of communication between the club and his camp. That would undoubtedly be a blow for the Red Devils as it is initially thought that they are in a two-horse race with the Bees.

Man Utd must remain wary!

Signing Eriksen can be deemed a necessity, considering how we have lost Juan Mata on a free transfer this summer. While we have other options in the number ten position, like Donny van de Beek and Bruno Fernandes, both of their playing styles are quite different when compared to Mata.

Eriksen is quite similar to Mata as both of them are creative attacking midfielders in trade. Van de Beek, on the other hand, is someone who likes to link up and make late runs into the box, whereas Fernandes is more of a final ball player who threads passes to find teammates in the final third of the pitch.

Our best performances in the previous season came when Mata was used in the number ten role, but unfortunately, Ralf Rangnick made that change at the tail end of the campaign. Signing Eriksen for free would ensure that we can try to repeat that success under Erik ten Hag moving forward.

However, we are now faced with more challenges on the way, considering how Eddie Howe’s side are posing trouble for us in this transfer race. We cannot allow them to pip us to complete a move for Eriksen as he could significantly boost our midfield with his quality.

The 30-year-old is likely to decide on his future shortly, with quite a large number of clubs starting pre-season training this week. Hence, we must make our final offensive at the earliest to give us the best chance of winning this transfer race.
