Fabrizio Romano: Manchester United may entertain transfer bids for Diogo Dalot
According to the Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Manchester United may decide to entertain bids for Diogo Dalot in the summer transfer window. However, they would not accept proposals for his services if substantial offers arrive ahead of the new season.
Dalot has seen a turnaround in his career at Old Trafford following Ralf Rangnick’s arrival during the previous campaign. Rangnick’s preference for having an attacking full-back reignited his stagnated tenure, which has helped him overtake Aaron Wan-Bissaka as the first-choice right-back.
However, Man United could still be tempted to part ways with Dalot if the interested parties arrive with big offers in the future. That is the case despite the club counting on the defender, although the chances of staying past this summer are highly likely at this moment.

Right-back an area of uncertainty?
Most supporters have concluded that Wan-Bissaka’s time at Manchester has reached its end following Erik ten Hag’s appointment. After all, the boss also utilised his full-backs in a way that they have greater importance in the attacking phase, where Wan-Bissaka has struggled to make a significant impact.
That appears to be true as the Red Devils are waiting to receive proposals for Wan-Bissaka this summer, which could see him leave ahead of the next campaign. If that is the case, we should perhaps reconsider our stance on Dalot if a huge offer arrives for his signature.
After all, finding suitable replacements for two right-backs at once is not easy, especially when our efforts and time would be shared, looking at the need to bolster other areas in the team. Dalot has proven his worth in recent months, even though he could improve his defensive aspects.
As such, keeping the Portuguese international in our ranks would be in our best interests. Instead, it would be wise to sell Wan-Bissaka and replace him with a quality replacement who would provide healthy competition to Dalot moving forward.

Fortunately, it seems that Dalot will be staying past this summer as his agent recently confirmed that his client is happy with life at Carrington. That goes in line with what Romano has said, although the fans would hope that the stance would not change even if a bid is made.
Dalot is in line to enter the final year of his current contract, so the Mancunians must secure his future and tie him down on a new deal. Even if we bring in a world-class right-back, the 23-year-old is more than a dependable option to become a regular squad player for us moving forward.
