Marcus Rashford and Diogo Dalot contract extensions ‘top priorities’ for Manchester United

Manchester United consider the contract extension of Marcus Rashford and Diogo Dalot as ‘top priorities’, with Erik ten Hag keen to keep a hold of them, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

The Red Devils want to tie the forward and the defender down to new deals promptly and extend their stay at the club. Contacts have already been made with the England and Portugal internationals regarding the same.

Rashford and Dalot are seen as part of the Dutch manager’s long-term project at the Old Trafford side. The gaffer did not want to lose the 25-year-old in the previous transfer window when Paris Saint-Germain came calling.

As for the former FC Porto star, he has become Ten Hag’s preferred option at right back. The 23-year-old has started in a majority of the fixtures under the former Ajax head coach.

The Portuguese joined United in the summer of 2018 but has only now established himself in the senior side. Last season, the arrival of Ralf Rangnick saw the former Porto star getting more minutes on the pitch.

In the current campaign, Dalot has pipped Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the pecking order. While the England U21 international was decent in the recent fixtures, the Portuguese came back into the starting lineup in the 3-1 win over Everton in the FA Cup.

Rashford has also been in fine form this season for United. He scored against the Toffees in the recent victory, making it seven consecutive home games where the 25-year-old has found the back of the net.

The England international has turned things around since the previous campaign. Ten Hag’s arrival has led to the forward finding his feet once again.
