Manchester United on red alert as agent of Robert Lewandowski player has ‘no contact’ with Bayern Munich
Pini Zahavi, the agent of Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, has told Kicker (h/t Daily Star), that the player has not had any contact with the club, putting Manchester United on red alert for the forward.
Lewandowski is arguably one of the most in-form goalscorers in the world at the moment and has been in and around the top of the scoring charts in Germany over the past couple of years, despite turning 33.
The Bundesliga has borne witness to the Poland international’s exploits over the past decade, from his time at Borussia Dortmund and now at Bayern. This season as well, he has continued his great form as he has netted 43 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions.
The forward’s current contract at the Allianz Arena runs out next summer, but Bayern and Lewandowski are yet to begin discussions over a renewal to see him stay at the club for a few more years.
“There hasn’t been any contact”
United could well be in the market for a new striker at the end of the season, given that Edinson Cavani is set to leave when his contract expires in the summer. Few names come close to matching Lewandowski’s goalscoring record in Europe, and given his contract situation, they will be monitoring him closely.
Zahavi confirmed that Bayern haven’t made contact with their star striker as of yet, which is likely to put United on red alert about the possibility of signing him this summer to add to their attacking ranks.
“There hasn’t been any contact with FC Bayern yet.”
Cavani is all set to leave this summer when his contract expires, which leaves the Red Devils with Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford as our sole senior forwards. While the former is not getting any younger at 37, the latter has looked out of form this term, which puts us in grave danger of not having a regular goalscoring outlet up top.
Anthony Martial is expected back from his loan at Sevilla ahead of the new season, but there is no guarantee that the Frenchman will continue his playing career at Old Trafford. Meanwhile, Mason Greenwood’s suspension has seen us cope with a shortage of strikers at the club.

Lewandowski does not boast of any Premier League experience, nor is his age an attractive factor in signing the Bayern star, but his records in Europe for club and country speaks for itself. He has shown no signs of slowing down either, recently scoring a hat-trick in the Round of 16 in the Champions League.
The Polish ace has worked extremely hard at the Allianz Arena and brought multiple titles to his club, but given that the side has not yet made an attempt to keep their star striker for a few more years, perhaps it may be time to move to another European giant in United and lead the line in the near future.
