Jadon Sancho reveals two reasons for rise in form at Manchester United
Jadon Sancho has shed light on the two reasons for his turnaround in form in recent times at Manchester United. He had a difficult start to life at Old Trafford after joining them at the beginning of the season but has showcased his quality over the past few matches.
Having joined Man United for €85million last summer, high expectations were placed on the Englishman’s shoulders due to his excellent performances at Borussia Dortmund. However, he failed to replicate that same attacking prowess, having scored just twice in the first 23 appearances.
However, there has been an upturn in his form as of late, with him netting two goals alongside two assists in the following six fixtures. Speaking in an exclusive interview with the club’s media (h/t Manchester United official website), Sancho has expressed that his work ethic and self-confidence are the two reasons that helped him turn around his fortunes at The Theatre of Dreams.
“I’ve been playing a lot of football recently. I guess that’s because I’ve been working a lot harder and believing in myself a lot more and just trying to make things happen.”
“I’m just happy that my teammates are believing in me and giving me support, especially when I go one-v-one, and hearing the fans when they cheer me on and are telling me to get at my opponent… I’m delighted with my performances.”
More to follow?
The 21-year-old has done well to find his feet at Carrington, even though the club has been going through a volatile phase throughout this campaign. It takes time to get used to the surroundings when a new player comes into a completely new environment. However, he was not helped by our struggles under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
He also played in a number of positions under the Norwegian but it seems that under Rangnick, he has a better idea of where he is expected to play and what he is expected to do. The young attacker has been a trusted starter down the left flank in recent weeks and we can expect that pattern to continue in the near future.
That, coupled with the England international’s personal effort to improve his game has eventually helped him to express his quality in the past few fixtures. If he could maintain the current form while building on it moving forward, we could be greatly boosted in our pursuit to qualify for the Champions League next term.
