Fabrizio Romano: Manchester United still waiting for Paul Pogba to make up his mind

According to the reliable journalist, Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Manchester United are still waiting for French superstar Paul Pogba to make up his mind as the 2022 summer transfer window nears.

The midfielder is one of the best players in world football on top form. However, it has done little to benefit Man United who have failed to see the Frenchman at his consistent best.

To add further woe, the Red Devils ace’s contract expires at the end of the 2021-22 season. As things stand, Pogba is yet to make a decision on his future and there is no progress in his situation.

Given the player’s profile and his contract situation, it is clear that there will be speculation regarding his move to other top clubs. But there appears to be little movement in that direction from Man United.

The Red Devils are not in negotiations with any other club regarding any sort of swap deal or otherwise. From Romano’s update, one gets the idea that Man United remain keen to keep hold of Pogba for the future.

The club made an offer to the Frenchman last July and the contract is still on the table. The 28-year-old appears to be taking his own time in making a decision.

Pogba’s future remains uncertain.

Pogba will be free to talk to foreign clubs regarding a pre-contract agreement from January 1st. With time running it remains to be seen how Man United react in the days to come.

Not doing anything in the upcoming week will hand the initiative in negotiations to Pogba and his agent Mino Raiola. From Manchester United’s perspective, the superagent can be considered a difficult man to deal with and handing him the initiative is akin to shooting yourself in the foot.

More Manchester United News

Man United made Pogba their record signing in 2016. Doing so showed great faith but also put many expectations in the player’s ability to turn into a tour de force at the Theatre of Dreams. Unfortunately, we have had only fleeting glimpses of his undoubted ability.

Whether the Frenchman will have a second wind at Old Trafford or his underwhelming stay will come to a rather unceremonious end remains to be seen. This saga has gone on for so long now that it would not be surprising if some fans are indifferent regarding the former Juventus man’s future. We have, after all, been getting results without him in recent times.
