Rival superstar urged to complete ‘ambitious’ move to Man United

Paul Parker: Antonio Rudiger could show ambition by leaving Chelsea and join Manchester United

Speaking to Bettingexpert (h/t The Mirror), Paul Parker believes Chelsea superstar Antonio Rudiger will show ambition if he decides to move to Manchester United.

The German international has established himself as one of the best centre-backs in the league under Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge. He was a key part of the Blues side that won last season’s UEFA Champions League and continues to play a big role in their title challenge this time around.

Rudiger is currently in the final few months of his Chelsea contract and is yet to make a decision on his future. The opportunity to sign a world-class player for free in the summer is something the Red Devils will do well to exploit.

Parker believes the player can make the ambitious switch to Old Trafford and make a difference to the Old Trafford outfit. Given our defensive frailties of late, Rudiger’s addition would be immense.

“To come to Manchester United, I would say that is ambitious. I would understand why he would want to and I think he would make a difference.”

Not only is Rudiger a dependable defender but he is also a leader capable of organizing the defence. Given his prowess on set pieces, he is the complete package at either end of the pitch. He can be considered an improvement over Harry Maguire who for all the hype is lacking defensively.

Parker believes Rudiger’s traits will not just benefit Man United but also Raphael Varane. The Frenchman is one of the best defenders in world football but has struggled to impose himself with the Red Devils.

“If you had him next to Varane, what a difference you’re talking about. Good pace and you’re talking about someone who’s won a World Cup, Champions League and then you’ve got a centre-half, who in the old-school way of talking is actually a leader.”

Rudiger’s experience of also winning the biggest trophies in world football will augur well for Man United. Having gone five years sans a trophy, it is key for the Red Devils to end that drought as quickly as possible. Adding players such as Rudiger will certainly help in doing that.

Man United will be landing themselves a world-class player for nothing should Rudiger sign for us next summer. With Paul Pogba also in a similar contractual situation, it could be an eventful Bosman market at Old Trafford.

Harry Maguire has had his struggles this season while Raphael Varane’s injury issues show he’s not invincible on that front. Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly, on the other hand, are good to step in once every now and then but in Rudiger, we would have a player who will make a genuine case to be one of the first names on the team sheet. Whether any move happens, however, is something only time can tell.
