Player News: Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has interest from Juventus for January transfer
According to the Italian news outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial has attracted interest from Juventus for a potential loan transfer in January. It was following last week when his agent had expressed how he desired to leave Old Trafford in search of more minutes.
Juve are interested in getting the Frenchman’s services on an initial loan transfer with an option to make it permanent at the end of the season. Martial is eager to move elsewhere next month, and the interest from the Serie A club could be in line with what he wants at the moment.
The 26-year-old joined the Manchester club with high hopes that he would eventually become a top talent in the future. However, it has not turned out to be the way that people wanted, even if he has shown glimpses of his potential at times during his stint at Manchester.
Time’s up?
The Red Devils star has fallen down the pecking order and is behind the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford. Jesse Lingard is battling with the former to earn some minutes, which would explain the current plight.
The loss of the France international would not leave a large void a talented youngster in Anthony Elanga is close to being ready to make the jump to the first team. Moreover, we could free up some wages and earn a decent sum if he secures a permanent transfer elsewhere.
It’s not like he hasn’t had the chances to leave an impression. Martial has played under managers such as Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Ralf Rangnick, but has seldom been a consistent starter. He was arguably at his peak during the 2019/20 season, but failed to build on that from then on.

A possible departure would not affect our depth as we have enough options to adjust for it. Keeping the France ace surely add some depth to our team, but it’s wiser to cut our losses rather than keep hoping he blossoms into the world-beater we hoped he would be, especially when he was strutting his stuff at AS Monaco.
