Borussia Dortmund and Mino Raiola give stance on Manchester United target Erling Haaland
German giants Borussia Dortmund, and superagent Mino Raiola has given their stance on the future of Manchester United transfer target, Erling Haaland ahead of the January transfer window. He is one of the most prolific and highly-rated strikers in football today.
Having burst onto the scene with a hat-trick in his debut in the Champions League, Haaland has shown no signs of slowing down in front of the goal. Since moving to Dortmund, he has scored a ridiculous 74 goals alongside 19 assists from just 72 appearances.
Speaking to Amazon Prime (h/t Metro), CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke conveyed details regarding the current situation surrounding the future of the Norwegian striker. He added that they are under no pressure and would wait a bit more to see how things develop.
“We are not alone in control of this. We are a bit dependent on signals coming from him and his advisor. We have no pressure to negotiate because we don’t necessarily have to extend the contract. The question is: does he trigger the clause or does he not? But we will try not to find out until March or April.”
It does seem like the Bundesliga club does not have all the cards in their hands and are slightly concerned due to the plater’s release clause. The 21-year-old has a clause in his contract worth £63million, which could be activated to get his services. Considering his quality, his signing for that fee would be a steal when one disregards other expenses.
Potential clash?
Speaking in an interview with Sport1 (h/t Fabrizio Romano), Raiola, the Norway international’s agent, revealed that they have already planned on the next destination considering the options in the market. He added how they have “clear ideas” about the next move, which is intriguing, to say the least.
“We have been thinking for two years. We’ve clear ideas about where Erling should go and of course we look at what the market has to offer. I would be a bad agent if I didn’t. We can influence the market with a player like Erling.”

The agent’s words are a pretty big deal as it does not mention the possibility of his client staying put in Germany. While his quotes do offer hope to Man United, we fans are already used to the infamous super agent by now.
Since he also represents Paul Pogba, he has said similar things in the past surrounding the Frenchman which has not always gone down well with fans. That has also seen him have a rather complicated relationship with the Man United board. Should any move for the Norway ace be in consideration from our side, we would have to deal with Raiola, which is always a pain.
