Zidane Iqbal reveals ‘special moment’ as he and Charlie Savage made Manchester United debut vs BSC Young Boys
Speaking to MUTV after the game, as quoted by Manchester Evening News, Zidane Iqbal claimed it was a special feeling for him and Charlie Savage to make their Manchester United debut together against BSC Young Boys.
Ralf Rangnick would have loved a victory in his first Champions League game in charge of the Red Devils. He gave the youth a chance, and Mason Greenwood responded graciously by scoring a low overhead kick in the opening 10 minutes of the game.
Unfortunately, they could not capitalize on the lead, and Young Boys eventually equalized. The second half was lacklustre, and the game ended 1-1. However, one special moment that did come out of it was the moment when both Zidane Iqbal and Charlie Savage made their debut together for the 13-time Premier League champions.
Iqbal revealed it was a dream come true after the game.
“It feels amazing, I have been working my whole life for this opportunity, it is a dream come true, it is just the start, and hopefully I can keep pushing on…I was just embracing it all really, I was hoping to get a touch, I did thankfully, I really enjoyed it.”
The starlet also explained the special feeling of making his debut alongside Charlie Savage, somebody he has known since playing for the U-9s together.
“It is very special for both of us to come on, we have grown up together since Under-9s, so to do with someone I have grown up with was even more special.”

However, Iqbal was not the only one proud of Savage. The player’s father, Robbie Savage, was commentating on the game and could not hold back his tears as his son made his professional debut. He told BT Sport, as quoted by the Daily Mail:
‘Coming on for Manchester United, Charlie Savage for Juan Mata. Wow. I never believed I would ever say those words here at Manchester United.’
A moment to remember
These are the moments most supporters appreciate. The theatre of dreams has handed professional debuts to several youngsters over the last several decades. But it has been a while since two kids made one together.
The pair have achieved nearly every milestone of their careers together. They have been together since the U-9s and also signed their professional contracts at the same time this year. Thus, it was indeed a very special moment for the two midfielders.

They would have liked to contribute to the match, but it was too late by the time they came on. Regardless, it is a moment they will play back in their minds for the rest of their lives, and they would be hoping to receive similar opportunities in the coming months as they look to establish their Man United careers.
