Ajax Amsterdam keen on luring Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson in the January window
According to Manchester Evening News, Ajax Amsterdam are interested in loaning Manchester United second choice keeper Dean Henderson to bolster their goalkeeping options in January.
After Dean Henderson’s incredible season with Sheffield United, the British player was swiftly called back by United. Furthermore, the Red Devils even gave him a lucrative 5-year contract deal. His priority in the team has grown over time; however, he is yet to cement his name as United no. 1.
David De Gea has been giving some incredible performances lately and has become one of the best players in the squad this season. The Spaniard’s impeccable form has made him untouchable this season. Thus, Dean isn’t getting much game time currently.
This season, the United academy graduate has only made one appearance. This lack of game time has sparked an intention to play on loan somewhere else.
It is believed that Ajax chief executive Edwin van der Sar is an admirer of the United second choice shot-stopper. The Eredevish team are planning to acquire a significant amount from current no. 1 Andre Onana’s sell. Thus, they are preferring to get Dean on a loan transfer.
On the other hand, Manchester United currently poses one of the top goalkeepers of this season. However, their depth in the squad isn’t dependable. Without Henderson, the Red Devils would be left with Tom Heaton as the secondary keeper. The 35-year-old player hasn’t been tested much competitively, and his age could prevent him from being a viable alternative for De Gea.

Thus, it would not be advisable to release Henderson. However, the board wouldn’t be able to keep hold of him for long without providing him with game time. With De Gea also not getting any younger, Man United are better off keeping hold of Henderson.
