According to Calciomercato (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United could offload Anthony Martial to Juventus in January on a loan deal.

The 25-year-old joined Old Trafford half a decade ago after winning the Golden Boy award in 2015. Martial was supposed to hit big heights, but his career has however proved to be underwhelming.

He fell out of favour under Jose Mourinho but was given a chance under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. It looked like he was finally hit his peak during the 2019/20 season, as he helped the club to a 3rd place finish in the Premier League and the UEFA Europa League semi-final.

However, he could not maintain the same form last season. Moreover, the arrival of Uruguayan superstar, Edinson Cavani restricted his game-time. That problem has not changed this season, following the summer additions of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho.

The French international is yet to play the full 90minutes in a league game this season. He has only been afforded two league starts, and it does not look like he is in Solskjaer’s plans.

Thus, the Red Devils are looking to offload him in January. The 13-time Premier League champions are planning on offering him to Juventus on an 18-month loan deal. The move shall also include an option to buy in the summer of 2023 for €30million.

The Old Lady lost Cristiano Ronaldo this summer and might be looking to add an attacker to their frontline. But there is no guarantee whether the Turin outfit would be interested in pursuing a deal for Martial.

Regardless, it is unfortunate how things have turned out for the French international at Old Trafford. The former AS Monaco man remains a part of United’s matchday squad, but only time will tell whether we see him rekindle his fire again in the famous red jersey.
