Manchester United stars displeased with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over preferential treatment of Paul Pogba

According to ESPN (h/t Daily Star), Manchester United stars are unhappy with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over the preferential treatment meted out to Paul Pogba.

The 28-year-old is in the final year of his contract and might well be heading towards the exit door. However, despite this, the midfielder has maintained a professional approach on the pitch.

The Frenchman was crucial at the start of the season as he delivered seven assists in four league games. His form has since tapered off. He did not paint himself in glory after getting sent off against Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Things only got worse when he was hooked in the second half against Atalanta as United needed to produce a come-back in the UEFA Champions League. However, this has got other players in the squad feel as though the midfielder is receiving preferential treatment from Solskjaer.

The Frenchman has blown hot and cold, but that has not affected the selection decisions of the Red Devils manager. The 48-year-old is keen on keeping his star man at the club amidst the player’s uncertain contract situation.

But other stars are suffering due to this as they have had to settle for fewer minutes. Donny van de Beek has performed well whenever called upon but has not earned a league start yet.

Jesse Lingard has experienced the same fate as have Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata. Regardless, that might soon change as Pogba is ruled out of action until the end of the year.

The former Juventus man limped off from a training session with France and looked to be in severe pain. It is thought that he could only return next year. There is no certainty whether he shall remain a United player then, especially if the club prefers to cash in on him in the winter window.
