Liverpool ready to beat Manchester United to the signing of Inter Milan star Marcelo Brozovic in January
According to The Sun (h/t Daily Mail), Liverpool are ready to complete a transfer for Inter Milan star Marcelo Brozovic in January amidst interest from Manchester United.
The Reds made a single signing in the summer by getting in RB Leipzig star Ibrahima Konate through the door. However, they did not strengthen in the midfield despite Georginio Wijnaldum leaving the club.
Jurgen Klopp instead promoted Harvey Elliot into the team. However, as serious of mishaps have seen the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Harvey Elliot, Fabinho, James Milner, Curtis Jones, and Naby Keita.
Thus, they are plotting a deal for Brozovic in the winter transfer window. The 28-year-old has loads of experience and helped the Nerazzurri win Serie A last season.
He might be heading towards the exit door as he is in the final year of his contract at the San Siro. Although Liverpool can land him on a free transfer next summer, they appear keen to complete a January deal. This could throw shade at Man United’s plans for the player.
The Red Devils are also interested in signing the Croatian. Paul Pogba looks set to leave in the summer of 2022 due to his impending contract situation. Nemanja Matic is ageing and will also enter the final year of his deal next summer.

Donny van de Beek has fallen down the pecking order and could push for a move in January. Thus, reinforcements may be due in the centre of the pitch. The signing of Brozovic could bring in experience into the ranks and a quality holding midfielder.
Moreover, after suffering a poor start to the season, United might need mid-season additions to boost the confidence in the ranks. However, they will now have to fend off their arch-rivals to land the player’s signature ahead of the competition.
