Manchester United star Paul Pogba wants to sign new contract that will eclipse Cristiano Ronaldo
According to L’Equipe (h/t The Metro), Paul Pogba wants to sign a new contract and overtake Cristiano Ronaldo as the highest earner at Manchester United.
The Red Devils would have known about the uncertainty surrounding the contract situation of the 28-year-old. There has been plenty of speculation about his future and where he might play his football beyond this season.
Pogba is currently in his sixth season at his boyhood club and is yet to guide them to glory in the Premier League or the UEFA Champions League. He might never achieve so as he is now in the final year of his current deal at Old Trafford.
Moreover, he recently picked up a thigh injury ruling him out for 10 weeks. Thus, he might not play for the club again this year. United have already made peace with the fact that the player could leave next summer and are on the search for a replacement.
However, it has now been revealed that the Frenchman has other plans. He is open to staying at the theatre of dreams but has massive wage demands.
The midfielder is currently earning £290,000-per-week for his services. This is a far way off the £480,000-per-week Ronaldo earns, making him the highest earner at the club.
Pogba wants the Red Devils to make him the highest earner at the club ahead of the Portuguese superstar. This is a huge demand when you take into account the stature of both players. The 36-year-old has won countless trophies and 5 Ballon d’Or awards so far, while the French international cannot say the same about himself.

Regardless, the midfielder remains an important man at the club. He has produced seven assists in as many league starts and was pivotal to them at the start of the season. Thus, it shall be down to the club to either agree to his wage demands or let him leave once his contract expires.
