Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo could leave next summer due to lack of Champions League football
According to The Express (h/t The Sun), Cristiano Ronaldo could leave Manchester United next summer if they fail to secure Champions League football.
Things have changed rapidly since the Portuguese star signed for the club. The Red Devils were top of the Premier League after Ronaldo made his debut against Newcastle United.
Since then, it has been a series of lacklustre performances, and we are two points off the Top 4. Their aspirations of qualifying for the knockout stages of the UCL have been saved by the 36-year-old constantly. United also exited the Carabao Cup in the third round after losing to West Ham United.
However, none of that was as disastrous as losing in a humiliating way to Liverpool and Man City. Ronaldo cut a frustrated figure in both games and was lucky to not be sent off for his challenges on Curtis Jones or Kevin de Bruyne, two weeks later.
He could now apparently leave the theatre of dreams if the club fails to qualify for the UCL. This would be catastrophic given the kind of stature he has at the club.
The former Juventus man already feels as though the standards have slipped at the club. However, he is not the only one in disgust with the current situation. Bruno Fernandes is also annoyed by the fact that Solskjaer’s bloated staff do not have a clear plan as to how the team will play.

A similar concern is shared by other players as they believe they should be coached by experienced heads. Questions have also been raised to the minimal game-time afforded to fringe stars like Donny van de Beek. All in all, the club is near turmoil.
Ronaldo leaving would add fuel to the fire. Thus, United have about eight months to turn things around if they hope to keep their talisman at Old Trafford.
