Transfer News: West Ham United set to reject £100million bids for Declan Rice despite interest from Manchester United
According to transfer news on The Sun (h/t The Express), West Ham United are ready to reject £100million bids for Declan Rice amidst interest from Manchester United.
The 22-year-old has been sensational this season. The Hammers are 3rd on the Premier League table, and a lot of it has to do with the English international. He had a great season last term too and followed it up with a stellar Euro 2020 campaign.
As far as this season goes, he is currently 1st for blocks, passing accuracy, interceptions, possession won, successful tackles, and tackles. West Ham are on the rise and it is crucial to them to hold on to their best players.
In fact, they could also hope to compete amongst the big boys once Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky buys a 27% stake of the club for £150million. These factors could ensure Champions League football, which in turn, they believe will help them to convince Rice to stay.
However, this could be a problem for Man United. If the Red Devils had even a shred of hope to make a mammoth offer of £100million for the player, that might no longer be accepted.
The midfield could shape to be a real problem area for us. Paul Pogba is likely to depart in 2022, and Nemanja Matic’s contract shall expire in 2023. Their only hope of getting the Englishman out of London seems to be if he forces a move himself because the Hammers remain staunch on their stance.

The midfielder has already rejected two contract extension offers and shall have only two years on his deal next summer. However, it is more likely that the Hammers shall finish in the Top 4 rather than us, given the current form of the two clubs.
This is an issue, and unless West Ham capitulate mid-season, luring Rice out of there could be an impossible task. Regardless, crazier things have happened in football, and United could land the player if they give it their best crack.
