Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confident about his future despite losing to Man City
Speaking after the game (h/t Fabrizio Romano on Twitter), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explained that he still works for Manchester United and is assured about his future despite the defeat to Man City.
The Red Devils perhaps had one of their most poor outings this season against arch-rivals Manchester City earlier tonight. Although they were obliterated by Liverpool a couple of weeks ago, this Man City side kept the ball from them all day, making a mockery of Man United’s pressing. The situation was so dire that United received their first corner kick in the last minute of the game.
Solskjaer cut a dismal figure on the touchline as he tried to encourage his players to press from the front and win the ball back. However, this defeat is set to bring him under a lot of scrutiny, especially after the away fans decided to sarcastically chant ‘Ole’s at the wheel.’
The theatre of dreams rarely witnesses such disrespect from the away fans. This is in fact the second time in two weeks that a team we consider our arch-rivals came onto our patch and smashed us to pieces.
Something has got to give and big decisions could be made regarding the gaffer’s future during the international break. However, Solskjaer remains confident about his job at the club and explained after the game that he wants to improve things.
“No, I don’t [think he is on borrowed time]. I have good communication with the club all the time, which is upfront and honest. I work for Man United, I want the best for Man United. As long as I am here, I want to improve this.”

The 48-year-old’s enthusiasm and drive to do better is always a positive but the results have been this way for a while now. However, he was not helped by the fact that the trio of Raphael Varane, Paul Pogba, and Edinson Cavani were out for the game.
Regardless, the cracks are beginning to appear, and it remains to be seen how much time Solskjaer is afforded before The Glazers sack him.
