Opponent Watch: Man City have Kyle Walker injury concern ahead of Manchester United game
Speaking after the game against Club Brugge (h/t The Sun) Man City boss Pep Guardiola revealed that Kyle Walker is an injury concern for them ahead of the derby against Manchester United.
The Citizens produced a convincing performance against Belgian side Brugge on Wednesday night, thanks to goals from Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling, and Gabriel Jesus. However, they will face a real test on Saturday evening when they face United.
Hence, while Guardiola would like a fully fit squad, they do have one concern in their defence. Walker had to limp off during the UCL tie, and the Spanish boss confirmed after the game that the right-back has a foot problem.
The City boss told reporters (h/t The Sun):
“We are going to review the players – some of them. Especially Kyle because he got a big kick on his foot. We are going to see on Thursday and Friday, but I’m sure that at 12.30 pm on Saturday, we’ll be there at Old Trafford.”
Regardless, Guardiola has included the Englishman in the squad. Man United, on the other hand, have their own problems in defence as Raphael Varane had to be brought off during the club’s game against Atalanta on Tuesday night and could now be out for nearly a month.

However, the Red Devils have a fearless frontline, with Cristiano Ronaldo in red hot form ahead of the derby. Moreover, if Walker does remain out, the Portuguese superstar would be more than willing to take advantage of it.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have to ensure that his team show up on the weekend, especially after they failed to perform against arch-rivals Liverpool.
