Cristiano Ronaldo sends rallying message to Manchester United teammates after Atalanta draw
Speaking to BT Sport after the game (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has claimed that the team still need to adapt to each other after picking up a point against Atalanta.
The Portuguese international delivered for his side yet again as he scored both equalizers in the game. Atalanta took the lead in the first half an hour of the game, only for the 36-year-old to equalize before half-time. The Italian club took the lead again midway through the second half, only for the former Juventus man to equalize in added time.
However, the all-round performance by the Red Devils was completely shoddy as there were defensive gaps throughout the game. The midfield looked non-existent as Paul Pogba had one of his worst days in the famous red jersey.
Ronaldo explained after the game how this United team still need to adapt to each other and pressed on the need to improve. He told BT Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News):
“It was a difficult game. When you play against Atalanta in Bergamo, it’s always difficult. We believed until the end, and I helped my team to earn a point, and I’m so happy. We never give up, we fight until the end…
“We did our job and we defended well. We have to still improve, we have different players, different systems, the football is different, we have to adapt to each other. It will take time. In my opinion, we have time to improve and to be better.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would have drawn a breath of relief at the full-time whistle because a defeat would have seen them slip down to 3rd place in the group. Instead, they have maintained their position at the top of the group.
Although they got away with murder against Atalanta, they will need to buckle up to compete in the Manchester derby on Sunday when Pep Guardiola & co come to town.
