Transfer News: Dean Henderson is keen to leave Manchester United in January

According to Fichajes, Dean Henderson appears to have given up hope of making it as the first choice goalkeeper at Manchester United.

The English international is behind David de Gea in the Red Devils pecking order. The Spaniard looks like a player reborn and looks unlikely to relinquish his spot anytime soon.

Henderson is keen to leave the club either on a loan or on a permanent basis in January. Just what options are made available to him remains to be seen.

De Gea’s poor end to last season coupled with his Europa League final fiasco raised red flags regarding his future as the first-choice goalkeeper.

Henderson however suffered the misfortune of his own both on the injury front and also tested positive for COVID. This saw United start the season with De Gea in goal and the veteran to his credit has performed.

He has already informed the club of his intentions to leave. There is interest in Henderson from both England and abroad. Newly rich Newcastle United could also be in the mix.

David de Gea has done well to win back his starting spot for Manchester United.

Given his performances this season, there is little reason for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to drop De Gea. With the World Cup coming up, Henderson cannot afford to sit on the bench either.

The only time Henderson has started this season was in the League Cup fixture against West Ham United. It is fair to say that just how many caps he will win this season could depend on United’s FA Cup run.

Henderson is already familiar with the Premier League and has the capability to be an excellent player for a top side. Unfortunately, he will have to be patient to succeed De Gea at United. Whether his future lies elsewhere remains to be seen.
