Transfer News: Manchester United are keeping an eye on Napoli striker Victor Osimhen
According to the latest transfer news on Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Sport Witness), Manchester United are one of a number of clubs monitoring the progress of Napoli centre-forward Victor Osimhen.
The 22-year-old signed for Napoli last summer in a move worth €60million from LOSC Lille, and he has impressed during his time in Naples. Last season, the striker scored 10 goals and provided 3 assists in just 24 league appearances for the Serie A club.
Osimhen has not lost any pace this season as he has provided 1 assist and scored 6 goals in 6 appearances across all competitions. Thanks to his performances, Napoli are currently sitting top of the table as they look to win the Scudetto this season.
However, Osimhen’s incredible displays have also led to a number of clubs targeting him with a potential move, including Premier League giants Manchester United. The Red Devils added the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho to their frontline this summer, and they are already plotting plans for the future.
Given that Ronaldo will turn 37 next year and Edinson Cavani will be out of contract next summer, an addition in the frontline would be a timely signing. Moreover, United are also ready to let go of Anthony Martial, thus, freeing up space in the squad and on the wage bill for another forward.

While United might be able to fit the Nigerian into their squad, he will not come cheap. Napoli will demand no less than €120million for the sale of the 22-year-old striker, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Sport Witness).
Moreover, with Osimhen contracted until 2025 at the Italian outfit, it remains to be seen whether United can propose an acceptable offer for the current Serie A leaders to part with their star centre-forward.
