Ole Gunnar Solskjaer commands Manchester United to bounce back vs Villarreal after two defeats in a row

Speaking to the Manchester United club media after a damaging loss to Aston Villa, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer showed faith in his side’s bouncebackability before an important UEFA Champions League game against Villarreal.

It has been a torrid two weeks for Manchester United fans where they have seen their club lose three out of four games. The rancid run started in their first UCL group stage away game against Young Boys, where a 10-men Man United succumbed to a 2-1 loss.

A win against West Ham United in the league followed, but it was only down to a late Jesse Lingard goal. The Hammers then had their revenge in the EFL Cup fixture last week where they emerged 1-0 winners.

And the disappointing fortnight was capped with a 1-0 loss against Aston Villa on Saturday which saw a crucial penalty miss from Bruno Fernandes in added time.

John Murtough helped the club lad three superstars in Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho, and Cristiano Ronaldo during the latest summer transfer window.

Having lost none of their important first-team players, the United squad is quite arguably the strongest Solskjaer has had at his disposal since taking charge of the club. And with that, comes the expectations of landing silverware.

But with one defeat after another, it is understandable that the spirits aren’t high around Old Trafford. However, the Norwegian manager has now asked his players to show their mettle against Villarreal and get back to winning ways.

“Every time you’re defeated, you have to stand up for yourselves, stand up for your team, fight for your team and we will. The boys will. It’s a big game, a Champions League night and we know we’ve started that group badly, but we’ll be ready.”
