Raphael Varane explains how Paul Pogba played his part in getting him to Manchester United
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United superstar Raphael Varane revealed the rave reviews about the club given to him by Paul Pogba.
The France international was in the France squad with Paul Pogba that won the FIFA World Cup in 2018. The highly-rated 28-year-old star was linked with a move to Manchester United this summer.
And a move finally came about when the Red Devils agreed on a £41million transfer fee for him with Los Blancos. The star defender has already made his debut for Man United and is in fact one of the first names on the team sheet.
Varane was asked about the role played by Pogba in getting him to Old Trafford, and the ex-Lens man explained how Pogba gave him an insight into the club during the transfer saga.

“Paul spoke to me about the club, about the atmosphere, about the expectations. Of course, he is a great player, but he also has very good, positive energy.”
Varane then mentioned that his relationship with Pogba has existed beyond the little time they have spent together at Man United and went on to label the former Juventus midfielder as a ‘leader’.
“He is a leader for the group. I’ve known him for a very long time so I’m happy to play with him.”
Varane’s signing is perhaps the one transfer that has had the biggest impact on United’s squad strength, at least on paper. Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly haven’t been able to cement themselves as regular partners alongside Maguire.
