Kevin Nolan admits he will not sell Manchester United transfer target Declan Rice for £100million

Speaking to BBC Sport’s Football Daily Podcast (h/t Mirror), West Ham United coach Kevin Nolan has admitted that he will not sell £100million-rated Manchester United target Declan Rice.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a fantastic campaign last year as he managed to rack up 35 appearances in all competitions, including featuring in 32 out of 38 league games for the Hammers. In the process, Rice also scored 2 goals and provided 1 assist as he helped the East London club secure Europa League qualification by finishing 6th in the Premier League table.

Understandably, several clubs were interested in signing the player this summer, including Manchester United, but the youngster’s £100million valuation was just about enough to ward off suitors.

Since then, the Englishman has refused an extension on his current deal at the London outfit and will have only 2 years on his contract at the start of next season. West Ham coach Kevin Nolan weighed in on the situation while speaking to BBC Sport’s Football Daily Podcast. He said (h/t Mirror):

“The biggest thing for me as a coach is he listens to me, he respects me for what I’ve done, but I feel that this lad can go on, and I feel he’s already done more than I have in terms of England appearances, being in Europe and things like that.

“When you watch him play, he just seems in control of everything. For me, he’s going to get better. Putting a price tag on him, I wouldn’t sell him for £100m.”

The Red Devils have apparently made the midfielder their prime target for next summer and would be hoping to secure his signature after making good additions this summer as well.

However, for now, United will be paying attention to him in the capacity of opponents as the Old Trafford outfit are set to take on West Ham United on Sunday.
