Manchester United are set to replace Ed Woodward at the club
According to Sky News (h/t Express), Manchester United are set to announce the replacement of Ed Woodward within a month, with Richard Arnold ready to take over the role.
Woodward, who assumes the role of vice-executive chairman at United, has orchestrated several transfers during his tenure. The 49-year-old took over the post from David Gill in 2013, while this was also the time when Sir Alex Ferguson left Manchester United after just having won the club’s 13th Premier League title.
Ever since Woodward took the role, the Red Devils have failed to win a Premier League trophy and have finished 2nd in the table twice (2018, 2021). Moreover, the club have also failed to perform in the UEFA Champions League. However, in the last five years, the club have reached 3 Europa League finals, although they have only won once.
Woodward’s resignation, however, comes after the European Super League mishap that happened in mid-April, which displeased a lot of the fans. He announced his resignation back then itself, saying that (h/t The Express):
“I am extremely proud to have served United, and it has been an honour to work for the world’s greatest football club for the past 16 years. The club is well-positioned for the future, and it will be difficult to walk away at the end of the year. I will treasure the memories from my time at Old Trafford, during a period when we won the Europa League, the FA Cup, and the EFL Cup”.

Woodward also mentioned that they have invested over £1billion in players during his eight-year tenure, and he now ‘wishes’ the best for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
His replacement, Richard Arnold, has worked alongside the Glazers for quite a while now and will likely take up the role next month. Thus, United fans will now have a new face at the head of the club, perhaps one that will deliver major silverware.
