Manchester United offered Edinson Cavani to Juventus when pursuing Cristiano Ronaldo deal
According to CalcioMercato (h/t The Sun), Juventus rejected a move for Edinson Cavani this summer after Manchester United offered the 34-year-old to the Italian giants as a ‘part of the deal’ to bring in Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Red Devils, who already signed Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and Raphael Varane from Real Madrid for a combined fee of above £100million, orchestrated a move for club legend Cristiano Ronaldo as well.
The 36-year-old left Juventus to sign for the Old Trafford outfit and is now a Red Devil again after 12 long years. However, they were planning on freeing up some space on their wage bill to accommodate Ronaldo’s humongous £450,000-wages-per-week.
Thus, the club were considering offloading Edinson Cavani to Juventus. However, a deal failed to materialize for the same. Given the fact that the Italian giants are not in the best financial situation, they did not want to take up Cavani’s £250,000-wages-per-week.
The Serie A side instead went and signed Moise Kean on a loan deal from Premier League side Everton. United, on the other hand, should be pleased to sign the Portuguese star for a measly initial fee of £12.8million.
However, this could pose a certain issue to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Red Devils currently possess nearly 7 forwards in their ranks, namely Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, Mason Greenwood, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, and Jesse Lingard.

The club did not offload any forward this summer even though both Martial and Lingard were linked with a move to PSG and West Ham United respectively. Thus, the Norwegian boss will have to effectively and efficiently manage the game-time amongst his forwards.
That might not be as major an issue though as the Red Devils will be competing in four competitions, and there could be enough game-time for all the forwards in the squad.
