Flamengo can sign Manchester United ace Andreas Pereira for £12.7m next year

According to Manchester Evening News, Flamengo can sign Manchester United outcast Andreas Pereira permanently for £12.7m should he impress on a season-long loan.

The player is expected to travel to Brazil to complete the formalities and with the terms already agreed upon, could be unveiled before United take to the field on Sunday to face Southampton.

The 25-year-old was involved in United’s pre-season preparations but does not appear to have a future at the club. One cannot fault them for thinking so given the limited impact he has had when given the opportunity.

Pereira has made just 75 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions, scoring just four goals and making five assists. It represents a poor return from a player who promised so much.

Having joined from PSV Eindhoven in 2012, Pereira failed to build upon the initial promise he showed at the club. Winner of the Denzel Haroun Reserve Team Player of the Year Award in 2015. It is by far the standout moment during his time with the club.

Pereira spent last summer on loan at Lazio where he did find playtime easier to come by. However, his performances left much to be desired and the Italian adventure was more of a miss than a hit.

There is little to suggest that the Brazilian has a future to Old Trafford. A return to his roots in Brazil will hopefully help him rediscover his best. There is still time on his side to resurrect what has been a flagging career. The onus to do so however is on Pereira.
