Manchester United move ahead of Arsenal in race for Ruben Neves

According to Independent, Manchester United seem to be ahead of Arsenal in the race for Ruben Neves. The Wolves star is not really sure about a move to Arsenal at this stage and will wait for United to do something in this situation.

The Portuguese international is one of the best young midfielders in the league. A seasoned midfielder too, the 24-year-old is at the right point in his career to take the next step. He is yet to reach his prime and United could have him for the best years of his career.

A central part of Wolves, he could be sold if the right offer comes along in order for them to facilitate new arrivals. Arsenal had registered their interest in the midfielder in the hopes of replacing Granit Xhaka, who could be leaving. However, Manchester United have entered the fray and Neves’ countryman Bruno Fernandes is pushing a case for Neves to be signed.

It would appear that United have some leeway in this race for Neves. Dean Jones of Eurosport spoke about the situation and hinted at the same.

“In terms of Neves, they have definitely tried that. Again, the player is not sure if that’s the right move for him at this stage, and with Manchester United also in view for him, he’d rather wait things out and see whether they can actually come to fruition.”

United know the qualities Neves brings. They have seen him first-hand in the Premier League and should go all out for him. He is a bit defensive but often contributes to the attack. United would do well to move ahead of Arsenal and sign him, especially with Wolves open to a sale.
